Providence Life Services offers a full range of services for families who need retirement living, assisted living, rehab, skilled nursing, and more. Providence Life Services is seeking a full time Content Specialist to join our dynamic team located at our headquarters in Tinley Park, Illinois.

Providence’s marketing team is small, but we create a lot of content. We are cheerleaders for all of our Providence communities as well as our Providence at Home division. We have a passion for marketing and also for drawing people into our awesome service lines so they can experience the Providence difference. We advertise around all of our facilities, in print, TV and online; manage social media accounts; publish a newsletter multiple times a year; and manage relationships with local media outlets. All of this in service of Providence Life Service’s mission.


The primary purpose of your job position will collaboratively plan and create engaging content for all of the Providence’s media channels, newsletters, and other outlets as assigned. The Content Specialist will report to the Executive Vice President of Marketing. This individual will be responsible for:

Summary of essential job functions

  • Developing and executing campaigns designed to support our mission, build brand awareness, increase marketing leads.
  • Producing and maintaining a content calendar to ensure that Providence has a strong content pipeline at all times.
  • Assisting digital team in identifying key content that would be valuable to targeted audiences via email marketing channels.
  • Creating assets that effectively deliver the Providence brand and associated messaging creating relevance for interested parties and prompting engagement.
  • Cultivating new content ideas, brainstorming innovative content formats, and staying abreast of emerging content trends.
  • Contributing to digital content strategy planning in collaboration with the other members of the marketing team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet.

Skills necessary

  • Three to five years of relevant on-the-job content writing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, preferred
  • Proactive, organized and incredibly detail-oriented
  • Fast learner & interested in ongoing trends and the latest developments in content marketing
  • Experience with InDesign preferred
  • Previous non-profit experience is a plus
  • The desired candidate is a talented content creator with a deep passion for writing and community development.
  • Exceptional storytelling ability and both an outstanding communicator and writer.
  • This individual is full of ideas and capable of successfully executing those ideas.
  • A quick worker who can balance the desire for perfection with the understanding of expectations and deadlines.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively
  • Comfortable working both independently and as a member of a team
