Description

The primary purpose of the External Community Relations Director job is marketing and selling Independent/Assisted Living to viable markets.  Fulfill marketing goals by generating new business and maintain existing business.  Explore new opportunities through referral sources as well as promoting existing business. The External Community Relations Director reports to the Regional Manager (Michigan) Providence Life Services (PLS). 

Summary

The role will establish standards for the "Outside Marketing" efforts of the Region with input from various Corporate and Facility staff.  Set audit/control functions to assure standards are met consistently throughout the Region.  You will meet with Regional Manager of PLS and others as needed to communicate progress, concerns and to delineate ongoing strategies. 

This position will customarily spend their time in selling. Maintains a thorough knowledge of the centers, products and services, acuity, capabilities and physician relationships.  Will develop and strengthen relationships with referral sources.  Establish and develop relationships with physicians, professionals, senior centers, libraries, park districts, organizations as it applies to the industry. Must meet and exceed Corporate sales metrics. 

Skills necessary

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent preferred.
  • Must possess three to five years sales experience, preferably in health care services, senior living or customer service.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of principles of effective communication, mass media, advertising, policies, education, community relations, demonstration, organization structure, social and activity services, government relations etc., as they relate to senior living.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts to community groups/agencies.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing.
  • Must possess the ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information and make recommendations to the Community Manager.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent computer skills and can use Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be tech savvy in regards to mobile technology and posting on social media.
  • Must be a good listener, have empathy, be focused on the prospect
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team.
