Description

The primary purpose of your job position is to assist the Nursing Office in their day to day scheduling of nursing staff in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern staffing as may be required by the DON, to ensure that staffing needs are met in an orderly manner.

 

 Summary of essential job functions

  • Must schedule staff for holidays according to requirements per facility policy. Maintains individual records of holidays worked to assure that employees have met requirement.
  • Maintains master forms on computer for: Floor schedule, calendar attendance, trade slips, call-in slips, leave early slips, payroll deduction sheet, new schedule sheet, etc.
  • Collects vacation request slips, verifies vacation availability, checks schedule and vacation calendar. Arranges schedule for replacement of staff on vacation.  Gets signature of DON on vacation request.  Maintains vacation tally list and keep copies of requests for one year.  Updates vacation list for new employees.
  • Records appropriate employee requests on designated records, and gets required signatures whenever possible.
  • Completes necessary administrative records for new employees (phone lists, schedule, attendance form, etc.)
  • Maintains attendance book. Initiate corrective action forms (write ups) for attendance, tardiness and no-call-no shows.
  • Updates, completes and distributes daily floor schedule.
  • Reports discrepancies/concerns with schedules to DON as appropriate.
  • Works with nursing staffing agencies to fill in schedule needs according to facility and agency agreements.
  • Must take and make calls after hours.
  • Must work the floor when necessary; and one weekend a month as required.  
  • Must have computer knowledge and support the clinical staff.
  • Must having auditing experience.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet.

Skills necessary

  • Must be an LPN in the State of Indiana.
  • Basic knowledge of scheduling a nursing department.
  • Must have computer knowledge.
