Providence Life Services offers a full range of services for families who need retirement living, assisted living, rehab, skilled nursing, and more. Providence Life Services is seeking a Full-time Prep Cook for our corporate office in Tinley Park, Illinois. 

Description

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the preparation of food items and performing other duties such as; maintaining and sanitizing dishes, utensils, cooking equipment, dish room and other miscellaneous equipment as assigned by the Director of Dining Services. The ideal candidate must be able to follow instructions and work both independently and as a team.  

The hours for the position will vary Monday thru Friday from 10am-6:30pm or 2pm-10:30pm.  

Summary of essential job functions 

  • Must assist the Chef with set-up and breakdown of the cafeteria and various other dining events at the corporate office.
  • Responsible for proper storage, labeling and dating of all food items.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the facility.
  • Assists with enforcement of safety and sanitation standards.
  • Participates in creating a safe work environment. Correctly operates food service equipment. Applies proper maintenance procedures when cleaning equipment.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to Manager/Director immediately.
  • Maintains equipment temperature logs as assigned and reports temperatures outside of designated zones to Manager/Director immediately.
  • Sets up and maintains serving areas in a clean and orderly manner prior to, during and after meal service.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet.

Skills necessary

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Culinary knowledge is helpful but not required.
  • Medium amount physically demanding work.
