Vice President of Home Health and Hospice

Since 1993, Providence At Home has been serving the communities in the Chicago Metropolitan and Northwest Indiana areas providing Homecare, Hospice and Private Duty services.  Providence At Home is a growing division of Providence Life Services which offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, Rehab Services and Skilled Nursing Care in our senior communities in 3 states.  Our mission is to enhance the lives of those we serve in the name of Jesus Christ, and decade by decade, our ministry has grown serving more people in more locations.

The Vice President of Home Health and Hospice will report directly to the COO at Providence Life Services and will lead the growing operations of our Home Health Agency.  The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop the annual budget, and direct the overall operations of our Home Health Agency in accordance with current federal, state and local standards to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.  This position will be responsible for:

  • The Vice President functions as the Governing Body of the agency and is responsible for establishing and implementing policy and procedures for the management and operation of the agency.
  • Be familiar with the rules of the agency and maintains them within the agency.
  • Insures adequate staff and evaluations of all personnel involved in direct care of the client.
  • Maintains personnel files in accordance with State and Federal guidelines and agency policies.
  • Maintains an effective accounting and billing system and reviews monthly financial statements.
  • Approves all correspondence presented outside of the agency, while ensuring accuracy of public information and materials.
  • Functions as the agency on-site Risk Manager responsible for overseeing day to day monitoring of client safety and risk management activities, and for investigating and reporting actual or potential clinical, operational, or business claims or lawsuits arising at the agency. Reports these matters to the Corporate Risk Manager according to policy.
  • Responsible for maintaining the agency's license and all necessary certificates for third party payments.
  • Initiates, develops, and recommends policies and procedures that reflect agency philosophy and objectives.
  • Develops plan of action and time frames to achieve short and long term goals and objectives.
  • Formulates a positive work relationship among all levels of agency and corporate staff.
  • Coordinates staff development and performance evaluations for entire agency staff.
  • Develops effective relationships with hospitals, physicians within agency referral area and other community agencies.
  • Communicates standards and holds agency staff accountable to measurable standards of performance.
  • Supports the mission of the organization as shown by their actions while on duty.

This position must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.  Master’s Degree preferred.  Must have an active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois and Indiana; and have a minimum of 5 years of management experience in a hospital, Home Health Care Agency or other related health care facility. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to Home Health Care.
